It’s been a surprisingly prolific year here. Though most days were filled with fairly short creative windows— an hour here, an afternoon there— these somehow accumulated considerably over the course of the many weeks and months of 2023.
Here is a look back at everything Antlers and Antlers-adjacent, and a sense of what’s coming in 2024.
Over the last year and change, we released a series of 5 singles, a departure from our typical album-based process. I loved experimenting with a different kind of container and frequency of output. These songs offered a chance to stretch, explore, and surprise myself.
Each track’s credits and further info can be found in the “Read more” links below.

Pretty much our only show this year was a special one, celebrating the 15 year anniversary of NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge. We assembled a unique band for this one, with Michael and I being joined by bassist Logan Coale and organist David Moore. The mellifluous harpist Maeve Gilchrist opened the evening.
This year also marked my first forays into publishing prose writing. It was daunting to put these works of words out there, but the response has been so positive and supportive, far more than I expected. So I suppose I’ll keep at it.

Earlier this month, I announced a new collaborative LP under the name Cowboy Sadness, a long-running instrumental band with my dear friends David Moore & Nicholas Principe. Our debut album, Selected Jambient Works Vol. 1 will be released January 19th, 2024.
Listen to 2 songs and pre-order the album

I had the privilege of co-writing a song with the immensely talented Jenny Owen Youngs for her new album Avalanche.
Hear “It’s Later Than You Think”
And I had yet another distinct honor of singing on a track from my pal Annie Hart’s new album The Weight of a Wave.
So what’s in the pipeline for next year and beyond?
You may recall that back in 2021, director Derrick Belcham made an album-length dance performance film for our album Green to Gold. On January 18th, he’ll be screening the film at Williamsburg Biannual in Brooklyn, NY, the first night of a retrospective of his stellar work over the years. If you’d like to attend, you can RSVP here.
As previously mentioned, the debut album from Cowboy Sadness will be released on January 19th. Pre-order it here.
We’ll be reissuing the first two Antlers albums, Uprooted & In The Attic of the Universe, on vinyl for the first time ever. Stay tuned for pre-order information.
We’re currently mixing the long-awaited Hospice live album, recorded during the 10 year anniversary tour in 2019. Expect that to come out sometime in 2024.
We will soon begin recording a new Antlers album, the writing of which is already underway.
Much to be done and much to look forward to. Thank you for reading all the way down and listening along the way.
Wishing you all an easeful end to this year and the possibility of renewal for the next.
With love and gratitude,
Peter
I have been following you guys for over a decade now, y’all were my first proper concert ever all the way back in 2014 at Fitzgerald’s in Houston (when I was a wee 15 year old). It has been an absolute joy watching all of your creative projects unfold during that time, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. Much love from New Mexico. ❤️
Super-excited for a new full-length, though I agree it's been nice to have the steady drip of new tracks throughout 2023. I just find your music very conducive to the more immersive experience of a full album listening session.
Thank you for also sharing about the collaborative projects — looking forward to checking them out!
